2017 is a great year! And we have accomplished some pretty great things!
Among them was working with our Board of Directors to create a three-year strategic plan. This plan will guide our priorities and work for the foreseeable future. With less emphasis on economic development and more emphasis on serving our members, we are defining our objectives more clearly.
The first leg of our strategic plan is to be the recognized advocate and voice for our business community. With more than 700 members, the Chamber speaks for, and can make an impact on behalf of, the entire business community.
Advocacy starts with our legislative agenda which includes economic development, education, and transportation. We’re maintaining excellent relationships with elected officials at the federal, state, and municipal levels. We’re working closely with Town of Wake Forest staff, we’re educating our members, and we’re ready to take action with grass-roots efforts when needed.
The second leg in our strategic plan is programming. Our objective is to provide the programs and opportunities that benefit our stakeholders and support business growth. We know everyone’s time is limited, so we are continually assessing our educational programs and our opportunities for learning from each other.
In the past year alone we’ve added many new programs. Among them are:
- Wake Up Wake Forest
- Ideas & Opportunities
- Issues & Answers
- Leadership Book Club
Not new, but effective, we’re continuing many other programs like:
- Women’s Business Owners Alliance
- Chamber Connections
- Young Professionals
- Business After Hours
The third leg of our Strategic Plan is to enhance the quality of life and make a difference in the lives of Wake Forest residents. For those of us who live here, it’s hard to imagine a better community, but we want to make sure we’re doing our part. For 37 years, Meet in the Street has been bringing friends and neighbors together in downtown Wake Forest on the first Saturday in May. It’s an enormous undertaking, but we believe it’s worth the effort!
We’ve just launched Think Chamber First! It’s a yearlong campaign to encourage Chamber members to support other Chamber members. At the same time, we’re promoting the capabilities and quality of Chamber members to the community. We’re using Facebook, Instagram, Digital and mobile advertising, and old-fashioned feet on the street to let the world know that when you’re searching for someone to do business with, Think Chamber First!
The Chamber’s Foundation, a 501©3 charity, is carrying on the educational work of the Chamber. We have both youth and adult leadership programs as well as workforce development initiatives in the works.
Thank you to all our supporters, sponsors, and Community Investors. We continue to make a difference in Wake Forest and our entire community.
