2018 Meet in the Street

The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s 38th Annual Meet in the Street® festival presented by Engine Masters Outdoor Power Equipment will be held Saturday, May 5, from 10 am until 5 pm in historic downtown Wake Forest. Join us as we fill South White Street, South Brooks Street, Owen Street, and South Taylor Street with arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, live music and performances, and plenty of kid friendly activities. It’s a full day of fun for the whole family! And best of all, it’s FREE!

Live Music Stage presented by UNC REX Healthcare
Music will be found on Owen Street. Bring your chairs and enjoy great live music all day! Booked music acts this year include Irresistible Groove and country star John King.

The White Street Brewing Company’s Beer Garden is moving to the Fidelity Bank parking lot on Owen Street. Come enjoy some White Street brews and have a prime spot to listen to the live music acts on the main stage.

Young Entrepreneurs Fair, presented by Blue Wave Pressure Washing
Stop by the Wake Forest Chamber’s parking lot (350 S. White Street) to see and buy handmade wares by local children ages 9-14. Come out and support these budding entrepreneurs! You’ll find young entrepreneurs making:

  • Handmade wooden animals
  • Ultra-realistic, hand-painted vinyl baby dolls
  • Lip balm, lip sticks and bath bombs
  • Delicious treats like white chocolate hearts and chocolate cake
  • Handmade drawings of landscapes, anime and pet portraits, as well as handmade dog toys

New! Community Raffle Showcase
The Chamber’s largest fundraiser of the year is the Community Raffle presented by Food Lion. Winners will be drawn on the live music stage at 3:00 pm during Meet in the Street, but you’ll have time during the event to buy your last minute tickets! Come to the Community Raffle Showcase located next to B & W Hardware Co. at 232 S. White Street to buy your raffle tickets and browse booths from businesses that donated prizes as well as local nonprofits. Tickets are $50 each and 15 prizes will be awarded, including a grand prize of $10,000 cash! Ticket sales will end at 2:00 pm on May 5th. Want to go ahead and buy your ticket online? Click here! Special Appearances & Other Events
Special appearances will take place throughout the day, including a visit from the North Carolina FC Football Club, and Muddy the Mudcat from the Carolina Mudcats baseball team. As in past years, children will be able to enjoy free activities in the Children’s Village, presented by The Goddard School of Wake Forest, on Taylor Street, including inflatables, arts and crafts, and a visit with the Wake Forest Fire Department. The Bicycle Safety Fair will be located in the Town Hall Lot off Brooks Street.

Free Shuttle
A free shuttle service once again will be provided again this year from Sam’s Club – Wake Forest, located at 11460 Royal Cotton Road, Wake Forest. Shuttles will run from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm. Thank you to Sam’s Club Wake Forest and Banks Kerr YMCA for sponsoring the shuttle!

NEW! Rickshaw Service sponsored by Traditions at Wake Forest. We will have three rickshaws running along Elm Avenue to take visitors to White, Brooks and Taylor streets.

Parking
Free parking will be available in assigned spaces along several downtown streets and parking lots. Handicap parking will be provided in the Depot Parking Lot, 110 S. White St., and the upper SunTrust Parking Lot. We will have additional handicap parking in the Renaissance Centre parking area.  Limited spots will be available and you will need to access this lot from Elm Avenue.

LIVE MUSIC STAGE
Located at the corner of White and Owen streets adjacent to the Beer Garden, the Live Music Stage presented by UNC Rex Healthcare will feature performances by URMOM (10:00 – 10:45 am), Arts Fishing Club (11:15 am – 12:30 pm), Rebekah Todd & The Odyssey (1:00 – 2:30 pm), and East Coast Rhythm & Blues (3:00 – 5:00 pm).

PERFORMING ARTS STAGE
Located in Town Hall’s Centennial Plaza and presented by WakeMed, the performing arts stage will feature a variety of performing arts and demonstrations from local groups and schools. Check out this great lineup:

FREE SHUTTLE
A free shuttle service will be provided again this year in conjunction with Sam’s Club and Banks Kerr Family YMCA. Hop on a YMCA bus at the Wake Forest Sam’s Club (11460 Royall Cotton Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587) for the short trip into downtown. The free shuttle will drop off visitors in multiple locations. The shuttle will run continuously beginning at 9:30 am, with the final shuttle departing from downtown at 5:00 pm.

Free parking will be available in assigned spaces along several downtown streets and parking lots. Handicap parking will be provided in the Depot Parking Lot, 110 S. White St., and the upper SunTrust Parking Lot, 353 S. White Street.

There are four types of applications based on the vendor participating.  Food Vendors are now sold out. Click the links below for details and applications.

If you do not fall under one of these four types, then you would qualify as a sponsor.

Kids (age 9-14) who are interested in selling their handmade wares at our Young Entrepreneurs Fair during Meet in the Street should complete this application:

Application deadlines vary. Please check your selected application for complete details. Space fills up quickly, so we highly recommend early submission. All applications are processed, reviewed and finalized by a committee of volunteers.
