Wake Forest Community Council Award Nominations Due Oct. 16

The Wake Forest Community Council is seeking nominations of local individuals and organizations that have made an extraordinary community impact for its annual awards given during its annual Community Christmas Dinner.

Nominations are due by noon, Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, for the Citizen of the Year

Award, Organization of the Year Award, and Peggy Allen Lifetime Achievement Award.

Nomination forms may also be picked up/dropped off at the Wake Forest Town Hall front desk, 301 S. Brooks Street  or mailed to WFCC, PO Box 1003, Wake Forest, NC 27588.

Nominations will be reviewed by Wake Forest Community Council members and the award recipients announced at the 72nd  annual Community Christmas Dinner on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019.


The Wake Forest Community Council is comprised of area civic, service, social, fraternal, religious and business organizations, as well as interested individuals and is dedicated to the communication of programs, events, and the needs of the community. The Council’s mission is to better promote, improve and preserve the Wake Forest lifestyle.

“Every December, the Wake Forest Community Council celebrates and honors those who put the needs of the community above their own,” said Council Chair Frank Everitt. “We invite anyone from the Wake Forest Community to nominate local individuals or organizations by Oct. 16.”

Since 1965, the Council has annually presented the Citizen of the Year award to an individual or team demonstrating exemplary volunteer effort and the Organization of the Year award to a group that has contributed significantly to life in Wake Forest.

The Peggy Allen Lifetime Achievement Award was first presented in 2005 to Peggy Garren Allen for her lifetime of service to the Wake Forest Community and is named in her memory. The recipient of this award is an individual or team who has contributed at least 10 years of volunteer service to the Wake Forest community.
